Now that the open is over, we have reviewed our open gym hours.  As of today, the gym open hours will be from 11:00 am-12:00pm.   Additionally, we added a regular class on Thursday at 4:30 pm.

Over the last few months, we have seen an increase of members doing additional movements/lifting during classes.  We encourage your motivation and hard work, but we want to make sure our box is a safe place for everyone.  Also some of our classes are pretty packed so space is an issue (That will change as soon as the tenant in unit 5 moves out and we take over).  Please don’t do this anymore unless you check with the trainer, or  else, try to make the open gym hours.  We appreciate your understanding.

Thursday 04.11.14 – Word-Power

 

In the world of spam and junk mail I got something that really got my attention.   No, I didn’t buy anything I just was amused by their catchy email headline..  It read “You're fat…Go on a Diet Immediately”  followed by the tag “A Way for You to Lose a Quick 25 lbs”.  I think words are very powerful and most of us don’t realize it.   The word lose and fat are words that I put in the “downer category”.  I don’t use these words unless I am describing the actual adipose tissue (aka FAT), not the person.   My second thought was, does anybody actually falls for these emails? I am not sure, I hope not.

But in any event, losing weight is not what we should be aiming for, we should be aiming to gain fitness, health, and happiness.  Just think about that for a moment what do you rather do, lose or gain?

So if you are new to CrossFit remember that losing weight should not be your primary goal.  Your primary goal should be getting fitter, getting healthier, getting happier. Measure your progress based on how you stronger you are getting, how you feel and how your clothes fit.  Forget the damn scale.

This morning I met a member that has been crossfitting with us for about 3 weeks and she was telling me how happier and fitter she feels.  That is what we do at SCCF, that is our mission and we love to hear stories like that.  Please, share them with us, and share them with your friends.

Many  workout, only a few actually train…   we train!!

Wednesday 04.10.13

This past weekend the SCCF endurance team ran American River 50 miler.   Quoting Jim "it was the most difficult thing I have ever done". It was hard, but crossing the finish line was simply amazing.  Everyone should experience that.  We will start training for a 50 K shortly, join the endurance team.  send questions to Luis if you want to know more.

She did it again!!
San Carlos's Team TAG did any amazing job and came up 37th place, but unfortunately  we did not make the top 30 to continue on to Nor cal Regional
however coach Breanne made the Top 35th in Nor Cal and qualified for  the regional qualifiers.  This year The 2013 NorCal Regional will be held May 24-26 at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa, California.  We will be behind our superstar.... Go Breanne!!

Enjoy the last workout of the Open boys and girls.  We are so proud of team TAG.  You have represented SCCF well, now rest and recover.   We will not have level II classes next week.  Enjoy the break, but feel free to come to our Level I classes anytime!!

It's not going to be easy, it's going to be worth it.
