Solutions Architect, Business Central
Location: 100% remote in the United States or Canada
Overview
The Solutions Architect, Business Central
is responsible for
executing the end-to-end lifecycle of developing, enhancing, testing, and deploying customer-specific extensions tailored to unique business requirements within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
This role requires a dynamic individual who can lead a team of developers, coordinate with various departments, and ensure that all project development aligns with customer expectations and the company's strategic goals.
Responsibilities
Lead Client-Specific Development Projects:
Lead the design, development, and deployment of custom Business Central extensions based on detailed client business requirements.
Collaborate with implementation consultants and project managers to interpret functional specifications and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
Ensure all customizations are built to best practices and align with Microsoft standards, with a focus on maintainability and upgradability.
Monitor and report on client progress, identifying and addressing potential issues and risks.
Lead the team, building their skills and investing in their development:
Lead, coach, and support a team of Business Central developers, promoting continuous skill development and high team morale.
Manage development timelines and resources to ensure timely delivery of custom solutions.
Review and approve technical designs, perform code reviews, and oversee QA processes to maintain high-quality standards.
Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members.
Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Help us add the right additional talent to the team
Client & Stakeholder Collaboration:
Act as a technical point of contact during the solution design and build phases of customer engagements.
Participate in customer meetings as needed to provide technical insight and solution guidance.
Work closely with functional consultants and solution architects to ensure complete understanding and delivery of client expectations.
Operational and Technical Excellence:
Establish and continuously improve internal development standards, documentation practices, and deployment procedures for custom work.
Stay current on new capabilities in the Business Central platform, including AL enhancements, Microsoft Copilot, Azure integration options, and other Dynamics ecosystem developments.
Ensure all delivered solutions are compatible with future Business Central upgrades and AppSource criteria (when applicable).
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
8+ years of experience in Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Business Central.
1+ years of experience leading or mentoring software developers.
Custom Business Central development aligned to specific business needs, ideally in a partner or VAR setting.
Strong communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Solid understanding of Business Central architecture, extension model, and upgrade methodologies.
Experience working in agile or hybrid project delivery environments.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
