UNIT SUMMARY : The Mother-Baby unit has 23 adult beds and 35 full-term nursery beds. We follow AWHONN staffing guidelines; each nurse has three mother-baby couplets assigned to her care. We also take care of expectant mothers who have pregnancy complications, postpartum readmission (within 6 weeks of delivery), and occasionally, post-operative GYN surgical patients. All of our rooms are private, with sleeping accommodations for one adult visitor of the patient's choice. We promote family bonding; our newest initiative is delayed bathing and non-separation of baby and mom.
JOB SUMMARY : As a member of the patient care team, the RN provides safe, age-appropriate patient care and functions as an advisor and resource for patients and their families.
REQUIREMENTS : Basic professional knowledge; equivalent to a Bachelor's degree; working knowledge of theory and practice within a specialized field. At least 1 year of M/B experience. Maryland Registered Nurse License, American Heart Association BLS Certification.
