Paraeducator - Mod/Severe, in person, full time

\nRCM is looking for paraeducators around the Redwood City/East Palo Alto area.  Full time W2 contract with benefits providing services to school students during school hours.  IN PERSON SERVICES AT THE SCHOOL LOCATION ONLY
\n
\n Position Summary
\nReporting to the school leader & under the direction of the Education Specialist or other certificated employee, the Paraeducator will primarily assist by performing a variety of academic and behavior support duties to individual or small groups of students within the special education classroom, regular classroom and other school settings. These duties shall be designed to complement the instructional program to maximize learning opportunities for students in a variety of educational settings. The Paraeducator will also assist in the establishment and implementation of appropriate classroom and school-wide behavior and assist students to access all aspects of the educational environment of the school and the community.

\n Required Qualifications
\n Experience: \n

\n\t
• Paid or volunteer experience working with or serving individuals with autism or behavioral deficits is preferred.\n

\n Education: \n\n

\n\t
• Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education - defined as completion of 48 semester hours (or equivalent trimester hours) of college coursework; or\n\t
• Obtained an associate (or higher) degree; or\n\t
• Pass the CBEST or a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction.\n

\n Essential Functions and Responsibilities \n\n

\n\t
• Under the direction of the Education Specialist, work with students in small groups or in one-to-one assignments to reinforce or follow up learning activities in core academic, language, and/or specialized subject areas.\n\t
• Assist in the implementation of behavior intervention plans which may involve use of approved positive reinforcement strategies, behavior modification, and other skills or knowledge to establish and maintain appropriate behaviors.\n\t
• Facilitate and support social interactions and foster the development of positive relationships between students with disabilities and their non-disabled peers.\n\t
• Assist all students by modeling appropriate behavior and attitudes and providing emotional support and general guidance.\n\t
• Support students to be active participants on field trips and school assemblies or productions.\n\t
• Provide testing accommodations, including supervising students completing tests in a separate location or during an extended time.\n\t
• Provide Education Specialist with information on student progress through observation, daily contact, and maintenance of accurate data trackers, student progress records/logs.\n\t
• Assist in establishing and maintaining a clean, safe, and cooperative classroom and learning environment.\n\t
• Assist physically disabled students with personal hygiene and grooming functions, including toileting, diapering, eating, dressing, and other self-help skills.\n\t
• Report suspected health problems to the appropriate school personnel.\n\t
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and classroom information in accordance with legal requirements.\n\t
• Maintain instructional program in case of temporary absence of Education Specialist.\n\t
• Attend and participate in IEP meetings, parent?teacher conferences, and Student Study Meetings.\n\t
• Consistent & on time attendance during school work hours. \n\t
• Perform other duties as assigned.\n

• $25-27/hr\n
