As a Non-US Accredited Foreign Graduate, you will be instrumental in delivering our mission, demonstrating our values, and showcasing heartfelt care for our patients. After successfully completing the FPGEE and TOEFL, you will qualify for this exciting role, allowing you to fulfill your required US Internship hours. This will enhance your pharmacy education and expand your skills. You will engage in a blended learning plan that combines practical experience with your existing pharmacy knowledge. Non-US Accredited Foreign Graduates are expected to complete their internship within 18 months and will gain expertise in patient care, practice management, leadership, and education, positioning you to pass all necessary Pharmacist licensure exams within 120 days of finishing your US Internship hours.

In this role, under the direct guidance of a licensed Pharmacist, you will help create a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment, ensuring exceptional care for every patient. Key responsibilities include:

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Customer Service

  • Greet every customer courteously and professionally both in-store and at the drive-thru.
  • Assist all pharmacy and front store customers with their inquiries and concerns.
  • Answer telephone calls with a warm and friendly greeting.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to resolve issues and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Eliminate barriers to enhance customers' experiences wherever possible.
  • Process transactions, including cash, check, and credit, while packaging purchases upon completion.
  • Engage with customers, seeking opportunities to create personalized, memorable interactions.

Regulatory

  • Ensure patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and company standards.
  • Communicate with customers while safeguarding their confidential information.
  • Adhere strictly to federal and state laws, regulations, and CVS policies.
  • Fulfill state and federal licensure requirements within the designated timeline.

Pharmacy Operations

  • Follow CVS workflow while upholding standards at all times.
  • Process prescriptions accurately, including the translation of SIG codes, product selection, drug counting, and labeling.
  • Resolve third-party rejections and complete necessary manual claim forms.
  • Assist with prescription pick-up in compliance with CVS protocols.
  • Access, input, and retrieve necessary information from the system.
  • Maintain inventory by adhering to inventory management policies and procedures.
  • Support the stocking of drug orders as permitted by law.
  • Provide additional healthcare services as allowed by state regulations and pharmacy leadership guidance.
  • Assist the supervising pharmacist in dispensing drugs, reviewing prescriptions, and ensuring compliance.

Counseling under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist:

  • Offer to counsel customers and refer to a pharmacist when necessary.
  • Address medical inquiries when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to deliver optimal patient care.
  • Gather relevant customer medical history to provide appropriate advice.
  • Practice and develop skills in accordance with pharmacist responsibilities under the law.

Leadership

  • Maintain communication with Field Management and Corporate as needed.
  • Participate in all essential store operational meetings.
  • Help maintain a clean and organized pharmacy environment in line with CVS standards.
  • Support scheduling activities according to business and workflow needs.
  • Facilitate the training and development of Pharmacy Support Staff.
  • Recognize and celebrate the successes of others.
  • Complete all required training programs.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a Non-US accredited pharmacy school.
  • Active Pharmacy Intern license in the state of employment.

Prior Relevant Work Experience:

  • Required: 0 to 3 years.
  • Preferred: 3 to 5 years.

Essential Qualifications, Functions & Preferred Qualifications:

  • Foreign Graduate from a Non-US accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Ability to obtain Pharmacist licensure in the home state within 120 days of completing US Intern hours.

Necessary Abilities:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Once state regulations are met, Non-US Accredited Foreign Graduates are expected to perform immunizations as a core pharmacist function.
