About The Position A USAL heavy duty diesel mechanic is responsible for performing routine, bumper-to-bumper service and repairs on diesel tractors and auto transport trailers. The mechanic performs tractor and trailer inspections and preventative maintenance; identifies problems using diagnostic software; enters data in labor/inventory management system; completes work orders; and replaces parts. About The Position A USAL heavy duty diesel mechanic is responsible for performing routine, bumper-to-bumper service and repairs on diesel tractors and auto transport trailers. The mechanic performs tractor and trailer inspections and preventative maintenance; identifies problems using diagnostic software; enters data in labor/inventory management system; completes work orders; and replaces parts. Here's What "good" Looks Like A commitment to a "safety-first" mindset and a passion to meet a weekly performance standard The motivation to do the right thing, every time A commitment to delivering vehicles the S.O.L.D. way---safely, on-time, legally-compliant, and damage-free A willingness to embrace technology (e.g., electronic logs, computer systems, smart phones, apps, web-based tools) and an attitudeof continuous improvement Showing pride in yourself and equipment---courteous, professional behavior; a neat appearance in company uniform; and a well-maintained truck, trailer, and/or tools Pay Range: - , General Benefits: Minimum Requirements At least 21 years of age Primary residence within 50 miles of the assigned terminal Certified mechanic from an accredited school and two (2) years' experience as a heavy duty diesel mechanic -OR- three (3) years of heavy duty diesel mechanic experience Experience with PACCAR diesel engine, aftertreatment systems, electronic control systems, and accredited certifications (at least two of the following categories) is preferred: Diesel Engines, Drive Train, Brakes, Suspension & Steering, Electrical/Electronic Systems, HVAC, or Preventative Maintenance Inspection Within the first 90 days of start date, obtain certifications in state inspection, A/C, and air brakes Demonstrable knowledge of machines and tools, their design, uses, maintenance, and repairs Strong mechanical aptitude, ability to adapt to a variety of situations, and attention to detail Ability to interpret technical resources (e.g., service bulletins, repair manuals) Ability to successfully complete forklift certification training and learn welding techniques Ability to clearly communicate and share information with co-workers and customers Clean pre-employment screening and drug test Ability to read and write English and legally able to work in the United States General / Physical Job Duties Safely climb in/out of a tractor cab and on trailer Use hands and fingers to gauge, handle, or feel Walk and stand for extended periods of time on various surfaces that may be uneven or slippery, including working in potentially inclement weather Reach (including above head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, kneel, balance, stoop, and crawl Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds Maintain courteous, professional behavior and a neat appearance Primary Location To maximize one's eligibility for this position, the candidate should reside within 50 miles of 7555 W.
