*Job Title: Shop Mechanic* *Department:* Maintenance / Fleet Services *Reports To:* Shop Supervisor *Location:* Roth Trucking 2135 Dakota Craft Dr Rapid City SD 57701 *Employment Type:* Full-Time *Wage Range:* $20.00 $40.00 per hour (depending on experience and certifications) *Position Summary:* Roth Trucking, Inc. is seeking a skilled and dependable *Shop Mechanic* to perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on company vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with diesel engines, heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and related systems. This position is essential to keeping our fleet safe, compliant, and operational. *Key Responsibilities:* * Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on trucks, trailers, and related equipment. * Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and manuals. * Complete brake jobs, engine repairs, transmission servicing, tire replacements, and other mechanical tasks. * Maintain accurate service records and complete repair orders using UpKeep or other maintenance platforms. * Ensure all work is done in compliance with DOT regulations, OSHA safety standards, and company policies. * Communicate with the Shop Supervisor regarding needed repairs, parts, and work timelines. * Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. * Assist in emergency repairs or on-call duties as needed. * Participate in ongoing training and certification programs. *Qualifications:* * High school diploma or GED required; trade school or technical certification preferred. * Minimum 2 years of experience in a heavy-duty truck or diesel repair environment. * Familiarity with diagnostic tools and repair procedures for diesel engines, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems. * Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus. * Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions. * Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. *Wage & Benefits:* * *Wage:* $20.00 $40.00 per hour * Health, dental, and vision insurance * 401(k) up to 5% double match. * Continued training and advancement opportunities *Work Environment:* * Work performed primarily in a shop setting, with occasional outdoor work. * Use of standard mechanic tools, lifts, and diagnostic equipment. * Exposure to loud noise, heavy machinery, and shop chemicals. * Occasional weekend or extended hours depending on workload and fleet needs. *Roth Trucking, Inc.* is an equal opportunity employer.
