Position Overview
ASB’s Early Childhood Center is seeking to hire a talented and experienced PK-3 ECC Teacher. In this role, the lead teacher is responsible for the academic, social-emotional growth and development in their care. You will also be expected to plan and implement a program to teach young children as well as monitor and record growth as children develop toward age level expectations.
Main Job Duties
Develops weekly plans, and implements age appropriate content and skills following age developmental standards and ASB curriculum to nurture and stimulate all domains of children’s development in their care.
Provides a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the children’s learning and growth.
Performs ongoing developmental evaluations of children as required by funding sources and follows curriculum implementation that addresses the individual needs of each child.
Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students social-emotional and learning problems
Provides responsive care to all children by adapting daily caregiving routines and plans to the interests and needs of the individual child and the group.
Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom
Prepares developmental progress reports and Report cards, as needed and required by the learning program.
Completes child transition and orientation of the classroom with parents.
Maintains ongoing, open communication with families
Plans periodical parent conferences to discuss children’s developmental progress, needs and interests as well as solicit their input.
Maintains up to date emergency forms, curriculum plans, individual child development profile and other records as needed in the student archives.
Works closely with Assistant Teachers and ensures that assistants are kept updated in all matters concerning the students, classroom and program.
General Skills and Qualifications
Valid teaching credentials and master's degree in pertinent subject area
Three years of recent work experience at the grade level(s) and in the subject area(s) of the position
Familiarity with recent North American teaching materials and methodologies.
Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia approach, Positive Discipline and inquiry based emergent curriculum.
Experience with data-driven assessment tools that facilitate differentiated instruction
Evidence of recent professional development activities
Experience working in an internationally and linguistically diverse school setting
Effective oral and written communication within a school community
Ability to integrate instructional technology into the curriculum
Experience and commitment to sponsoring co-curricular and extracurricular activities
Familiarity and experience with the Spanish language at the beginner/intermediate level is a plus
All prospective employees must be able to clear a background check as well as a sexual offenders clearance for all other countries where the candidate has lived or worked for a period of 3 months or more, over the last 5 years. As well as that, the verification process includes the cross-check of the requested references, which must cover the last five years of work.
