Job Description
Kerns Trucking, Inc is a family-owned trucking company with over 140 employees operating at 4 separate locations. We are seeking a fleet dispatcher at our Blacksburg SC location.
The position will be full-time salary with hours from 7am-5pm Monday-Friday and potential Saturday on-call IF work availability arises.
We are looking for an aggressive, highly motivated individual who can work well in a fast-paced, ever changing environment. Must be a self-starter and be able to communicate effectively with both our drivers and customers on a daily basis.
Daily Job Functions:
- Daily communication and management of an assigned fleet of Class A & B CDL drivers
- Take orders, job specifics/changes and maintain open stream of communication with various customers daily via phone/text/email
- Experience with computer dispatch systems and ability to use them efficiently.
- Assign loads and monitor dispatch of drivers to provide safe, on-time, productive service
- Provide directions, job specifications, basic communication and monitor fleet using GPS online e-log system
Job Requirements
-Experience with dispatch of truck fleet
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Strong computer skills (Microsoft Outlook and Excel)
-Must be able to make decisions and solve problems quickly and efficiently.
-General knowledge of geography and map reading
-Must be able to work in high volume environment with shared office space and steady phone volume.
Job Qualifications Preferred but not Required
-Knowledge of truck operations such as regular maintenance intervals or heavy equipment mechanic experience
-CDL A or B license
