Overview

Our client is seeking an attorney to serve as in-house counsel for their family of companies. They are looking for a person with passion for learning about the nuances of the business and unique legal needs. They focus on innovation in the building construction industry with an emphasis in structural framing, building science, product testing, innovative product certification and professional engineering.

• Help build a legal support system for their customers.
• This role is to provide a business support system on legal and litigation aspects of business.
• Collaborate with the in-house team to support any current and future litigation.
• Develop a working knowledge of legislation and regulations affecting construction, engineering, implementation of innovation and the accreditation/certification processes related to the customers products, design and services.
• Understand and educate the market on regulations that affect business being transacted.
• Understand how regulatory officials can affect the competitive landscape.
• Advocate for customers businesses with various governmental entities, including communicating with city attorneys when regulatory interpretations are not defined by legislation.
• Plan financial/tax strategies to maximize profits.
• Support operational improvements throughout the company.
• Review draft agreements and policies related to staffing and HR.
• Review customer agreements and contracts as needed.
• Support legal strategies as they arise.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree, licensed to practice
• Strong communication skills.
• Innovative mindset.
• Issues management and providing recommended solutions as the task focus.
• Flexibility and ability to navigate priorities.
• Strong sense of time management and importance of budget tracking.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Taking initiative and using common sense thinking.
• Willingness to dig in and learn fundamental principles and deepen knowledge regarding: General construction industry practices; Construction regulations and standards, accreditation/certification activities, customer product manufacturing, and the testing & professional engineering business.
