The Johns Hopkins University Krieger School of Arts & Sciences (KSAS) is seeking an Associate Director for Academic Advising, Systems & Technology within the Office of Academic Advising (OAA). The role manages operational and technical aspects of the advising program. The OAA's mission is to support students' holistic well-being as they navigate academic choices and pursue their goals. This hybrid position (in-office and remote) reports to the Associate Dean for Academic Advising. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Advising Systems & Technology Leadership (50%) Manage program tasks including advising, systems management, and catalog review. Collaborate with offices such as the Registrar's, IT, and the Whiting School of Engineering. Oversee implementation of administrative policies and procedures. Develop and maintain campus partnerships (e.g., SEAM, UIS, EDMS, etc.). Handle operational tasks like Academic Standing, Reinstatement, Evaluation, and Systems Maintenance. Manage transfer evaluation processes. Supervise up to 3 staff members, including setting expectations and providing feedback. Provide mentorship and professional development for staff. Oversee staff-led projects, ensuring alignment with goals. Manage catalog revisions and academic planning software (Stellic). Participate in committees for academic policy and strategic planning. Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements. Coordinate training for advisors and staff. Perform other duties as assigned. Academic Advising (50%) Advising a caseload of approximately 65-75 students. Assist students with academic planning, problem-solving, and resource connection. Support students holistically to meet personal and academic goals. Assist with course registration, major/minor selection, and post-graduation planning. Track student progress, analyze data, and communicate regarding registration, grades, and graduation. Manage early warning flags and outreach to students and faculty. Troubleshoot registration issues and refer students to support services. Advise on academic opportunities, policies, and requirements. Identify at-risk students and develop success plans. Monitor academic progress and communicate standing. Guide students through graduation process and maintain accurate records. Skills and Qualifications Proficiency in customer service and educational technology. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to relate to diverse student backgrounds and promote diversity. Experience in providing high-quality student services and outreach. Ability to multitask, work independently, and collaborate effectively. Proficiency in computer applications. Minimum Qualifications Master's or Ph.D. in education or related field. Five years of experience in academic program administration; supervisory experience preferred. Preferred Qualifications Five years of advising experience in higher education.
